The School of Music and Dance’s 2025 World Music Series kicks off with Argentine singer-songwriter Cecilia Zabala giving a concert on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in Berwick Hall.
Her spectacle “Colors of the south” is an invitation to celebrate ourselves in the fire of the collective, in the warmth of the embrace.
A woman, her voice and her guitar. Such an apparently simple and intimate aesthetic has, Inside, a rich and complex network of textures, dialogues, moods and different timbres that are revealed throughout the concert. An intimate and powerful proposal, which calls the audience to a ritual in search of beauty.
The “Colors of the South” concert is a celebration of the rich musical heritage of Latin America, interpreted with sensitivity and virtuosity. In each performance, Zabala fuses elements of Latin American folklore with contemporary influences, creating a unique soundscape that reflects both his roots and his innovative creativity.
An invitation to the audience to take a journey through diverse styles and rhythms, from milongas and tangos to zambas and chacareras. With compositions and arrangements they highlight the beauty and depth of the music of the south of the continent, while introducing personal and modern touches.
This show promises to be an intimate and emotional experience, where music acts as a cultural bridge, showing the universality of human emotions through melodies and rhythms that transcend borders.
Guitarist, singer, composer Cecilia Zabala was born in Buenos Aires in 1975. Throughout her career, she has expressed her musical creativity using her guitar and her voice, creating original compositions that blend sensitivity, emotion, technique and intuition. Her music draws on a rich mixture of influences, from Argentinian folklore, jazz, tango, and Brazilian music.
