Policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in preparing OHC fellowship applications
Increasingly, people are using generative AI to help them prepare various kinds of documents, including fellowship applications. The OHC has adapted the guidelines developed by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) regarding the use of AI in fellowship applications. Please read the below carefully:
-
The content of a fellowship application is the responsibility of the applicant, who must assure that their work is fact-based and acknowledge all sources. An applicant’s reliance on AI for proposal development or writing assistance does not absolve them of full responsibility to ensure that their statements are factually accurate and appropriately sourced.
- These sources include AI tools, whose use must be appropriately and accurately documented by use of footnotes or marginal notations (as a model, see the instructions issued by the MLA ).
- The OHC reserves the right to declare an application ineligible in the event it fails to comply with these requirements.
