Information for current OHC fellows
Under construction; check back for more!
OHC offices
OHC staff will reach out to you prior to your fellowship term if office space is available, based on your fellowship application (indicating if you’re interested in having office space), availability, and demand. (There are more fellows than offices.)
Requesting to change your OHC Fellowship term
Changes to your OHC Fellowship term are allowed, but must be approved. Your department agreed to the term listed on your application, so any changes must be re-approved by your department (and also by your ASU Director, if you are within CAS). Instructions for requesting a change:
Email your department head (and ASU Director, if you are in CAS) to request the change, copying ohcapplication@uoregon.edu and requesting “reply all” for the approval. If you have already gained permission from your department, or you are changing terms at the department’s request, you may forward the relevant email exchange to OHC, copying your department head (and ASU Director if applicable).
If a term change is approved, OHC will re-issue your Letter of Agreement and switch your fellowship term to the requested term.
Fellowship Reports
All fellows are required to submit a report following the fellowship. Reports should be sent to melissag@uoregon.edu and ohcapplication@uoregon.edu. More information will be provided at the conclusion of your fellowship term. (Coming soon: submit your report here.)
Research Compliance
Fellows must adhere to the highest ethical standards of proposing and conducting research, as outlined by UO’s Office of Research Compliance Services, to meet university, state and federal compliance standards.
Administrative duties during OHC Research Fellowships
OHC Research fellowships provide one course release during the fellowship term with the goal of creating a term free from teaching. Ideally OHC fellows are also released from all or most administrative duties whenever possible during their fellowship term. However, the extent to which fellows are exempted from service or administrative duties during the fellowship term varies widely from department to department and sometimes from one year to the next. Fellows must come to an agreement with their department heads concerning their responsibilities during the fellowship term. OHC is not involved in this negotiation or decision.
Suggested venues for your off-campus talk (Faculty Research Fellows)
OHC Research Fellows are required to give one public, off-campus presentation to a non-academic audience within a year of the end of their fellowship. A list of off-campus venues can be found here. You are not restricted to the venues on this list, and we welcome ideas for alternate venues. You will be required to inform the OHC of your venue, date, and time in advance so we can help to publicize the event.
