Award winning Manager/Producer Steven Adams will talk about project, script, and talent evaluation in relation to current trends in the TV and Film industry in LA, and the implications of such trends for those seeking careers in the industry.  Among those trends, Adams will speak about the burgeoning of transnational media, especially US collaborations with international (and non-Western) cinema, focusing on Adams’s own experience and expertise in working specifically with African filmmakers and artists, and supporting their films.

Steven Adams is a Founding Partner at Alta Global Media where he represents international media companies and talent.

Adams is rapidly creating a bridge between the African Continent and the Americas through representing and producing with the next generation of breakthrough African filmmakers. Adams represents South African director Mandla Dube and South African writer Sabelo Mgidi, who collaborated on Silverton Siege, Netflix’s first ever commissioned African film, which earned both Dube and Mgidi SAFTA nominations for Best Director and Best Screenwriter, respectively. Adams was also instrumental in striking a historic 3-picture deal for Dube with Netflix, marking only the third time Netflix has struck such a partnership with an African filmmaker.

Adams represents such writers as Sabelo Mgidi and Jafta Mamabolo, who now has a feature development deal with Netflix. Adams also represents such South African talent as actors Bonko Khoza (The Wife), Wanda Banda (The Woman King), recently signed showrunner Busisiwe “Busi” Ntintili (Jiva!) and post-production/VFX house The Refinery. This year, Adams also facilitated the CAA signing of global star actor Jimmy Jean-Louis (Heroes). Adams serves on the advisory board and speaks annually at the Durban Filmmart, the largest film market on the African continent.
