Launch of Red Thread Digital Project and Traveling Scriptorium

March 7, 2019
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

DREAM Lab, Knight Library, 1501 Kincaid St., Eugene, OR 97403

A digital exhibition featuring objects from the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, the Jordan Schnitzer Art Museum, and Special Collections and Universities Archives. It explores the global history of red pigments, a color whose rich symbolism and dramatic roles in the history of science, art, culture, commerce, and war offer a uniquely accessible way to approach the interdisciplinary study of material culture. It makes the most of digital media’s ability to connect objects that are otherwise inaccessible or located in physically disparate areas across campus.

The Traveling Scriptorium will be featured alongside the Red digital exhibit with an array of rare books and manuscripts from Special Collections.
