Van Jones giving a lecture in Portland

On January 26, 2011 Van Jones spoke [about] issues that resonated with students from the University campus and attracted student groups such as the Climate Justice League and the Coalition Against Environmental Racism (CAER). As a member of CAER.

“It’s very exciting to have a guest of his stature to address such important topics. He is the perfect speaker for the Oregon Humanities Center’s mandate to bring discussions on topics of real relevance to the whole campus and surrounding community,” says OHC director Barbara Altmann.

Reach beyond the campus community

We bring to campus some of the world’s most accomplished and creative thinkers and doers. Recent OHC guests have included Temple Grandin, Nicholas Kristof, Terry Tempest Williams, John Shelby Spong, Bill McKibben, W.S. Merwin, Van Jones, and Frances Moore Lappé. Our events are free and open to the public and are intended for faculty, students, and community members alike. Many of our lectures are also available online, as is our weekly television interview program, “UO Today.”
